Why doesn't Helmsman show up in the car?
Helmsman is a CarPlay Driving Task app. It appears on the car display when an iPhone with Helmsman installed is connected to a CarPlay-compatible head unit. If you do not see it: confirm CarPlay is actually connected (the CarPlay home on the dash), that Helmsman is installed on that iPhone, and that the car session was started after install. Wireless CarPlay still needs a working Bluetooth and Wi-Fi handshake with that vehicle. Helmsman is not a phone-first maps replacement; the product is the CarPlay session.
How do I talk to Helmsman?
On CarPlay, ask Siri: “Talk to Helmsman.” Then speak the trip. Microphone permission on the iPhone must be on. If Siri does not hand you over, check Siri is enabled and that Helmsman is allowed for Siri / App Intents on that device.
How do I set Home and Work?
Set Home and Work on the iPhone — in Apple Maps favorites or in Contacts card fields — not on this website. Helmsman can use those places when you ask to go home or to work. If a request for Home or Work fails, open Maps on the iPhone and confirm those favorites exist.
Does Helmsman do turn-by-turn?
No. Helmsman talks the trip into a destination and hands the pin to Apple Maps. Maps drives: turn-by-turn, lane guidance, and the navigation voice are Apple Maps. If guidance looks wrong, that session is a Maps session after handoff.
Is there a subscription?
This site does not sell a subscription. Use of the iOS/CarPlay app is described in the App Store listing once it is live. There is nothing to purchase on thehelmsman.app.
